A 16 foot yurt is one of our most popular medium sizes. It gives a generous amount of usable space without becoming difficult to place, heat or manage.
It is a very good size for guest accommodation, yurt hotels, retreats, gardens, family use and comfortable seasonal living. It is also close to the size traditionally used by Mongolian families, giving it a natural balance between space and practicality.
A 16 foot yurt can be made as a canvas-only yurt or as an insulated yurt, depending on how you plan to use it. The size is fixed, but the specification can be chosen around your needs.
Like our larger yurts, it is made with a natural chestnut frame, a handcrafted solid oak crown and carefully fitted covers. It is large enough to feel like a proper room, but still compact enough to sit comfortably in a garden or small retreat setting.

What Is a 16 Foot Yurt Good For?
A 16 foot yurt works especially well where you want a proper guest room, comfortable holiday yurt or spacious garden room without moving into the larger retreat sizes.
It is often chosen for guest accommodation because it gives enough room for a bed, small furniture and clear movement around the space.
It also works well as a therapy room, studio, meditation space, family camping yurt or quiet garden retreat.
For use through more of the year, it can be made as an insulated yurt with natural wool felt insulation, a fire-retardant inner liner and our double-canvas roof system.
A Comfortable Guest Room Size
The 16 foot yurt has around 19 square metres of floor space. That makes it a useful size for guest accommodation, giving a more open and comfortable feeling than the smaller yurts while remaining practical and easy to live with.
We have customers using 16 foot yurts for many different purposes. We use ours as a guest room for visitors. Set in the garden, it provides a beautiful and practical extension to the home.

The 16 foot yurt is approximately 488 cm in diameter, with around 19 square metres of floor space.
It can seat approximately eighteen people and sleep up to five people in simple use.
The total height is approximately 280 cm, with a wall height of around 155 cm.
