All Season Yurts
Yurts for Year-Round Use in the UK and Europe
For over 20 years, Yurt Workshop has delivered yurts across Europe and beyond. Our yurts have been used in many different climates, from the wind and rain of the UK and Ireland to the snow and ice of Scandinavia, the rainy mountains of Belgium and the hotter coastal regions of Portugal, France, Spain, Italy and Greece.
A yurt for all seasons needs more than good looks. It needs strong materials, careful detailing, proper weather protection, good ventilation and a design that has been tested in real conditions over time.
Our all season yurts are built with that practical experience in mind. They are designed for customers who want a yurt that can be used for more than occasional summer camping — as a guest space, studio, retreat space, glamping unit, garden room or year-round living space.
Built for Real Weather
Our yurts have been used in exposed, wet, hot, cold and changeable locations. That experience has shaped the way we choose materials and design the covers, frames, insulation, doors, windows and roof systems.
The canvas cover is one of the most important parts of a weatherproof yurt. It has to protect the structure, shed rain properly, cope with sun and wind, and still look good over time. Our covers are made to fit the frame correctly, so the yurt pitches cleanly and performs as it should.
Insulated Yurts for All Season Use
For regular use beyond the warmest months, we usually recommend an insulated yurt. Wool felt insulation makes the yurt warmer, quieter and more comfortable, while the inner liner gives the space a clean and finished interior.
In colder weather, insulation helps the yurt hold warmth from a stove or heater. In hotter weather, it softens the heat from the sun and helps the space feel calmer inside. This makes an insulated yurt a much better choice for studios, guest accommodation, retreats and year-round living.
Double-Canvas Roof System
We take the weather protection further with our insulated and Glass Wall yurts. These include a feature unique to Yurt Workshop: two canvas roof covers.
The inner canvas sits beneath the outer roof cover, adding another layer of protection above the insulation. This gives the roof system greater durability and helps the yurt perform better in demanding climates.
This double-canvas roof system is one of the reasons our insulated and Glass Wall yurts are so well suited to real use in the UK and Europe.
Yurts for Cold, Wet and Hot Climates
There is no single climate in Europe. A yurt may need to cope with damp winters in the UK, strong sun in Spain or Portugal, colder mountain conditions, exposed coastal weather or heavy seasonal rain.
That is why we do not think of an all season yurt as one simple feature. It is the combination of frame strength, canvas quality, roof detailing, insulation, lining, ventilation, doors, windows and good siting that makes the difference.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. The yurt looks amazing and is beautifully made. It is beautiful and warm, even in sub-zero temperatures.”

Choosing the Right All Season Yurt
If you want to use a yurt throughout the year, the best starting point is usually one of our insulated yurts or Glass Wall yurts. These give you a more comfortable interior, better weather protection and a more finished space.
The right specification depends on how and where the yurt will be used. A guest yurt, garden studio, yoga space, glamping unit or full-time living yurt may each need different choices of size, door, window, insulation and stove position.
Tell us where the yurt will be installed and how you plan to use it, and we can help you think through the options.
